Duarte's debut: Oaklander Caleb Duarte, at Jack Fischer Gallery, rereads the post-minimalism of Gordon Matta-Clark (1943-1978) and others and finds there the makings of a globally mindful political art.
Duarte's latest work, a menacing stacked installation and "bloque" (2007), a collision of substances that somehow sounds political undertones, shows him trusting material decisions enough to abandon imagery, finding a new evocative depth as he goes.
